80 Day Obsession: Week 1

Alright! Today’s the day I restart the 80 Day Obsession (by Beach Body Fitness) program!

As I mentioned in previous posts, I started this program back in March and was blown away by how quickly I was getting stronger and how fast I saw results. This program gave me the chance to be consistent—at home or in a hotel gym—and it was absolutely paying off! Without question, I knew I was in the best shape of my life.

Unfortunately, right around Day 45, I broke my toe and had to quit. But today, I have a chance to give it another go and I’m so excited!

Honestly, I found myself dreading the idea of “starting over” these past few weeks. It felt like I’d gotten halfway up Mount Everest, only to be knocked down to the base again. My physical gains have all but diminished and I’m still limited on what physical activity I can safely do (by orders of my doctor). It’s already mid-June and I’m way behind on my fitness goals.

But it’s been important to remind myself that there isn’t a “peak” or “finish line” to chase after when it comes to my health. And as tempting as it is to view the wedding as some sort of deadline, it’s not kind, realistic, or healthy to put myself through that.

So today I’m restarting with few expectations! I have no idea how the modified versions of the exercises will feel or how “ripped” I’ll be 80+ days from now, but I’m just excited to be back in the game. And this time around, that’s more than enough.
